Masterpiece in a Day is a competition where artists create an entry that day –September 15- to be judged at the end of the event. Participation is free and the top three selected by the judges will receive cash purchase prizes. Anyone interested must bring their own art supplies. Registration starts at 9 a.m. at 924 Shelby St. Competitors must register no later than 11 a.m. and will have until 3 p.m. to create their “masterpiece in a day”.
The Masterpiece in a Day competition includes 2D entries in painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, and most textiles, and 3D entries of various building materials, clay, paper, found objects and more. Use your imagination!
Two separate Masterpiece in a Day Youth categories will give ages 13 – 17 and children under 12 a chance to show off their artistic talent as well. The top three entries in the 13 – 17 group will receive free art supply sets. Surprise gifts for the under 12 entrants should make our budding artists feel extra special. Artists under 12 can check in at the Pioneer Plaza anytime between 11am – 4pm.
Our judges this year are Pam Allee, of the Harrison Center for the Arts, Rich Hanna, of the Stutz Artist Association, and Katrina Murray, of the Circle City Industrial Complex.
We are reprising the live music portion of Masterpiece in a Day as well. Sign up, get randomly paired with another musician, perform your creation later that day for cash prizes.
